Community Highlight

StreamGuys has made our Northern and Central California communities a better place through donations, partnerships, scholarships, and volunteering. We're proud to support Humboldt and San Luis Obispo counties!

SLOPartners - San Luis Obispo

SLO Partners is a regional consortium of business, industry, education, and community leaders committed to working together for collective impact in workforce and economic development by aligning education systems and employment programs with economic opportunities.

"From the time StreamGuys established themselves in SLO, StreamGuys has been a great partner in generating fulfilling tech careers for our program participants. They have added four employees that have been part of our tech apprenticeship program and feedback from all the apprentices is extremely positive. StreamGuys is the first local company to host the same person as she progressed from a software testing apprentice (year 1) to be a software development apprentice (year 2). You can see Ashley's story below."

Women in Technology Fund

With a focus on meeting the demands of the current and future tech industry, StreamGuys is investing in future female technologists by creating the Young Women in Technology Fund. The scholarship is intended to encourage young women in our community to pursue the study of computer technology. The Humboldt Area Foundation, a community foundation, promotes the scholarship and manages the application process.

"I started a fund after my daughter to help inspire women in the field of technology here in Humboldt County."

Jonathan Speaker

Humboldt State Business Internship Program

StreamGuys COO, Jonathan Speaker, has partnered with Humboldt State and the Smullin Foundation to offer paid job experience to HSU students studying business. The internship program helps StreamGuys find students with the kind of qualities that businesses of today are requiring. The HSU undergraduates get valuable, real world experience via the internship program making them gems for employment. Interns have been hired full time at StreamGuys after the internship, making the project a success.

Fundraising

In addition to corporate sponsorship from StreamGuys, StreamGuys' EVP, Jason Osburn, has organized annual bowling teams for the Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ signature fundraising event. North Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters’ has awarded the 2008 Friend of the Agency Award to Jason Osburn and StreamGuys for their continued financial support. Not to mention the StreamGuys team has won multiple back to back annual awards for best costumes at the event!

Green Tech - Jacoby Creek Schoolhouse Renovation

StreamGuys Founder, Kiriki Delany, along with his father, Marc, renovated the historic Bayside Schoolhouse into a green building. The Schoolhouse was originally built in 1903 and after finding annual school photos taken in front of the building, they were able to redesign the original staircase. Keeping true to the 1903 look of the building was an important part of the renovation.

Radiant floors were installed. Some rooms kept the original flooring, so radiant walls were installed instead. A condensing boiler heats water that is pumped through pipes in the walls and floors. Kiriki and Marc made other innovative decisions by installing 33 separate thermostats and choosing to insulate all the interior walls and floors with cellulose in the form of ground up newspaper.

The Delanys installed a 30 panel solar array in 2008. The solar panels power the StreamGuys office, preventing over 72,000 lbs of CO2 from being produced at our local power plant. Feel free to view the power statistics here.
